Cowboy Cookout - April 18th, 2020
Thanks for your interest in our 3rd annual Steak Out event. Our first two years of this event were wonderful nights for all and we were sold out. Thanks for your past support and be sure to get your tickets early this year so you don’t miss out. The volunteers of the Friends of the Little Manatee River State Park and park staff hope to provide you an enjoyable, delicious and memorable evening. Your support of our events, directly benefit and help us to support projects in this park. Here’s what you can expect at this event.
Your ticket includes a 1 hour guided trail ride through the park riding your own horse (see information below about rental horses), live country music from the Skyler Clark Band, entertaining Cowboy lore and stories by Les McDowell the creator of Dry Creek, a delicious rib eye steak or salmon dinner with dessert and beverages (menu below), two beer or wine drink tickets are included (limited extra beer or wine tickets are available) and campfire relaxation. You will also have the optional opportunity to support the park and win some cash in our 50/50 drawing and to play a special game of Cowboy Bingo (No this is not your grammas’ bingo game. Details below). Folks without a horse may choose to hike the trail or enjoy a beverage around the campfire during the ride times. A limited number of rental horses are also available (see below).
4:00 - 5:00 Parking lot opens. There will be plenty of parking on natural grass with room for your horse trailers and to tie out your horses. A water trough will be available.
4:30 - 5:45 Check in at registration tent. Please bring your pre-paid tickets and proof of negative coggins. To receive your beer or wine drink coupons, you must present a valid state ID as proof of age. You may purchase 50/50 and Cowboy Bingo tickets here. green beans almondine
blue cheese wedge salad (Ranch version available)
Hawaiian sweet rolls

Put away your ink daubers and cards for this version. Here a donkey holds your marker. There will be a 16’ diameter pen marked out with 52 spaces on the ground. You’ll have the opportunity at check in to buy spaces for $5 each or 3 for $10. When all the spaces are sold, our friendly donkey will be let loose in the pen. Whichever space he poops on first is the winner of $50. Yeah it’s silly, but fun! And the proceeds go to help the park, so buy ‘em up. Spaces sold out quickly last year.
Here you will be able to get unlimited bottled water, soda, iced tea (sweet and unsweet) and coffee. Each paid event ticket will also receive two beer or wine coupons which may be redeemed anytime between 4:30 and 8:30. There will be a selection of bottled beers, red or white wines. You must have a wrist band from check in to be able to redeem beer or wine coupons. Extra beer or wine coupons may be purchased at the beverage bar for cash only for $4. A maximum of 4 beer or wine coupons per person may be redeemed. If you will consume alcohol, please do so responsibly and have a designated driver. The safety of you and others is everyone’s first priority.
A member of the Friends of the Little Manatee River Park, Kathy Wolfe, is also a very experienced professional trail ride guide who offers trail rides in the park on a regular basis. She has a limited number of horses available to rent for this event at special rates. She would provide everything you need to just mount up and enjoy the trails. If you are interested, please contact Kathy at 941-812-1980 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please don’t delay if you need this service. A separate prepaid ticket to the event is required for each horse rental.
